Come to the Back to School Welcome party!

Mark your calendars, Mustangs! Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 30, from six to eight pm we'll all be congregating at Mitchell to meet the teachers, see friends, and munch down on smoothies from Jamba Juice and hot dogs and snacks from Ray's Red Hots. Delicious, healthy smoothies will be $4 and combos of chips, a drink and a regular or specialty hot dog are only $6 so bring your appetite! Come meet this year's PTO board and learn a bit about all we do to make the Mitchell community safe, fun and inclusive for our amazing families:) Our meeting are the third Tuesday of each month at 6 pm in the library, and kiddos are always welcome. The September meeting is 9/19, possible topics for discussion are school expansion plans, the Fun Run, movie nights, book fair and a whole host of other PTO sponsored school activities like field trips. Teachers often give presentations, administrators are always in attendance, and we get to know each other to form a great network of famil

Successful Fun Run

Students listened to music while they ran, walked and danced with teachers and parents cheering them on. It was a great day to be a Mitchell Mustang! This year we were lucky enough to receive a grant through the United Dairy Industry of Michigan. This allowed us the opportunity to provide chocolate and strawberry milk, yogurt and string cheese to all the runners in order to recover from their hard work. The after run snacks were a hit with the kids and the adults. Mitchell students ran a total of 5,841 laps. Which comes out to just about 468 miles combined. That's an amazing number! Science Olympiad needs your help!

Every Monday and Friday after school, magic is happening-SCIENCE MAGIC! Mitchell's Science Olympiad team is hard at work, practicing for their events and learning so much about aerodynamics, engineering, chemistry, nature, biology, communication, and teamwork. The Washtenaw Elementary Science Olympiad is being held at Pioneer High School on June third. Which means there is still plenty of time to join in the fun! Second through Fifth graders are all welcome, as are any and all parents who are interested in coaching. You can choose to coach full time (Mondays, Fridays, or both) or volunteer to assist the main coaches on any or all practice days.
